Oil Pulling

Today was the first time I've tried the ayuverdic tradition of oil pulling. Basically you use oil as mouth wash and swish for 20min. You can use coconut, seasame, or sunflower oil for it. Its supposed to help kill bacteria and whiten teeth. Its also been shown to have some detoxing qualities and some people swear it helps boosts their energy levels. So my experience: I used a little over a teaspoon of organic coconut oil and swished for 8mins. I wanted to do the full 20 but I needed to communicate with my kids.. tomorrow I will definitely shoot for 20 though. The only thing I really noticed for my first use was that my gums stinged a little bit afterwards! I'm thinking that means some germs got killed! For more info here's a pretty good site

Its A New Year!

It would take a massive amount of writing to catch up on the last six months, terrible I know! Anyways here's some highlights. I delivered my third beautiful baby on nov 8th! She is amazing! I finished a school term with all A's! Woot woot! And my son started his last year of preschool. .. crazy.. Things starting with the new year: school term starts jan 6th, the girls parent participation class starts jan 8th, and I signed up for a tabata (excersize) class three days a week which also starts the 6th! The whole house has had the stomach flu this last week and now were transitioning into some sort of cold.. ugh... Needless to say I'm excited byt nervous about all the new things for the year. Ive re-dedicated myself to the paleo/primal world and I'm determined to continue on this lifestyle change journey. With three kids I need to be a beacon of health and a role model to them... Jan 1st weigh in.... 240lbs

It's been awhile

Wow so a long while has passed and many things have happened!  I was doing great on the diet; 6 weeks strict primal eating!  Was being the operative word however...  My son's birthday, followed by more birthdays, followed by my birthday has thrown me for a loop.  I ate like crap today and now I feel like crap.  It was instantanious bloating, headache, wierd body pulsating feeling, even my eyes burned, and then of course the all too expected sugar crash zzzzzzzzzzzzzz...  This is the LAST day I EVER want to feel that way again!!!!  I am re-commiting myself to this.  This is going to happen because I need it to, for myself and for my family.  I will get healthy through a whole foods primal diet.  I can do this!!! I am excited for tomorrow to start and I'm going to kick this sugar craving addicts butt!!!   I am also going to really start changing my sons eating habits for the better as well!!

Day 6!

Well today was faced with many challenges; some overcome and others not so much.  First I decided to go grocery shopping a day earlier because it fit into my schedule better.  So we started out by visiting my grandparents who promptly offered doughnuts and other yummy treats.  I turned down everything there and ate my 22 almonds right after we left.  When we got to New Frontiers I had to get my mom and my son a gelato.  So hard not to taste test but I made it through as well as all the yummy deserts they have lined up.....  Ended up ordering lunch there and I did pretty good; got a bacon cheeseburger in a lettuce wrap.  Not exactly as healthy as I'd like, but not too bad either.  My big downfall is when we went to my in-laws.  They speak Spanish, which I am not to fluent at.  My mother in law made me a plate of 3 chicken enchiladas, rice, fried chicken fillet and beans.  ugh what was I supposed to do?  I didnt want to offend anyone so I ended up eating most of my chicken enchiladas and the fried chicken fillet.  I did leave my rice and beans untouched however.  Hmm I definitly need to come up with some sort of plan to deal with these types of situations better.  I dont know.

Day 3!!

The day started great and I went to the gym for an hour of cardio kickboxing uggg.  When I got home I started to feel sooo tired and by 3 I started to want to snack on everything!  I made sure to stay to all primal things, mainly meat; I was craving it so bad.  I had quite a few temptations today as well.  My mom and aunt were at my house almost all day and they made noodles and grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch and mash potatoes for dinner.  Stuck to my food though and I feel good for it, just wish I didnt snack so much.
